Capitol Roof Replacement
State Capitol Building
Montgomery, AL
Client:
Alabama Department of Finance
This project consisted of re-roofing the State Capitol Building, with the exception of the dome. Existing fully-adhered EPDM roofing and insulation were removed down to the original deck. Roof crickets were constructed to provide positive drainage at all roof areas, and ventilated nail-base insulation and waterproofing underlayment were installed on deck and parapet wall surfaces. Approximately 32,700 SF of new copper roofing and 15,750 SF of new copper and stainless steel copings, parapets, cornices and trim were provided in a combination of standing seam and flat-lock soldered-seam configurations. The project also included new roof drains and a new UL-certified lightning protection system for the entire building.
